GoDaddy is the name most people think of when they hear “web hosting.” Hostinger is the name most people discover when they compare prices. I have tested both extensively, and the gap between them is wider than their marketing suggests.

Quick Verdict: Hostinger outperforms GoDaddy in price, speed, and value at every shared hosting tier. GoDaddy’s only real advantages are brand recognition and a massive domain marketplace. For hosting specifically, Hostinger is the stronger product.

Pricing: Not Even Close

GoDaddy Economy hosting starts at $5.99/month on a 36-month term. Hostinger Premium starts at $2.99/month on a 48-month term.

For that price, Hostinger gives you 100 websites, 100 GB storage, a free domain, a free SSL, and weekly backups. GoDaddy Economy gives you one website, 25 GB storage, a free domain, and no SSL (you pay extra).

Read that again. GoDaddy charges twice as much and does not include SSL on its entry plan. In 2026, shipping a website without SSL is irresponsible. Google Chrome flags non-SSL sites as “Not Secure.” Every hosting company should include SSL for free on every plan. GoDaddy still charges for it on Economy.

Renewal pricing widens the gap further. GoDaddy Economy renews at $17.99/month. Hostinger Premium renews at $7.99/month. Over a 3-year renewal cycle, that is a difference of over $360.

I ran parallel tests on both platforms using identical WordPress setups.

GoDaddy’s shared hosting runs on Apache. Hostinger runs LiteSpeed. The difference is not subtle. My GoDaddy test site was consistently over two seconds slower than the same site on Hostinger. Hostinger offers domain registration at competitive prices and includes a free domain on most hosting plans. For straightforward domain registration (buying a new .com and pointing it to your hosting), Hostinger is perfectly adequate. But GoDaddy’s domain tools are deeper and more comprehensive.

WordPress Experience

Security

GoDaddy built its brand on domain registration and aggressive TV advertising. Hostinger built its reputation on delivering genuinely fast hosting at low prices.
