Getting the wrong size in shapewear is worse than getting the wrong size in regular clothing. Too small and you cannot breathe. Too large, and it does not compress. With Honeylove products costing $79 to $129 per piece, getting the fit right on your first order saves you the hassle of returns and exchanges.

I have tried nine Honeylove products across their shapewear, bra, and bodysuit lines. Below is everything I learned about how their sizing works in practice, not just what the size chart says.

Does Honeylove Run True to Size?

Short answer: yes, with a caveat. Honeylove sizing aligns with standard US sizing when you follow their size chart measurements. I wear a US size 8 to 10 in most brands. I ordered Medium across all nine pieces, and the fit was accurate in every case.

The caveat: Honeylove shapewear is a compression garment. Even in the correct size, the first time you put on a Level 5 piece (like the SuperPower Short), it will feel tight. That is by design. The compression relaxes slightly after 10 to 15 minutes of body heat, and the fit settles into firm-but-comfortable. If your first reaction is "this is too tight," give it 15 minutes before deciding to exchange.

Honeylove Size Chart: The Numbers That Matter

Honeylove sizes are based on two measurements: waist and hips. You need both to select the correct size. Here is their size range:

XS: Waist 23-25 inches, Hips 33-35 inches (US size 0-2)

S: Waist 26-28 inches, Hips 36-38 inches (US size 4-6)

M: Waist 29-31 inches, Hips 39-41 inches (US size 8-10)

L: Waist 32-34 inches, Hips 42-44 inches (US size 12-14)

XL: Waist 35-37 inches, Hips 45-47 inches (US size 14-16)

1X: Waist 38-40 inches, Hips 48-50 inches (US size 16-18)

2X: Waist 41-44 inches, Hips 51-53 inches (US size 18-20)

3X: Waist 45-48 inches, Hips 54-56 inches (US size 20-22)

How to Measure Yourself Correctly

Use a soft measuring tape. If you do not own one, use a piece of string and measure the string against a ruler afterwards.

Waist

Measure around the narrowest part of your torso, typically about one inch above your belly button. Do not suck in. Stand naturally and breathe normally. The tape should be snug but not compressing your skin.

Hips

Measure around the fullest part of your hips and buttocks. This is usually about seven to nine inches below your waist. Stand with feet together and wrap the tape around the widest point.

If your waist measurement falls in one size and your hips in another, go with the larger size. Honeylove's compression adjusts better in a slightly larger size than a slightly smaller one.

Sizing Tips by Product Type

SuperPower Short and SuperPower Thong (Level 5)

These are maximum compression pieces. Order your measured size for firm sculpting. Size up one if you want the boning and panel structure without aggressive squeeze, or if you plan to wear the piece for more than eight hours at a stretch. The boning prevents rolling regardless of whether you are in your exact size or one size up.

LiftWear Cami and Bodysuits (Level 3-4)

Torso length matters here. If you are 5 feet 9 or taller, consider sizing up for additional length through the midsection. The cami straps are not adjustable, so taller frames may feel a pull through the shoulders in the standard size.

V-Neck Bra and Silhouette Bra (Level 2-3)

Honeylove bras use the same XS to 3X sizing rather than traditional bra sizing (32B, 34C, etc.). Match your measurement to their chart. If you wear a traditional C or D cup, the Medium or Large in Honeylove typically corresponds well. If you are a DD or above, the Silhouette Bra provides more structure than the V-Neck.

Crossover Brief and Silhouette Brief (Level 3)

These replace everyday underwear and should fit like well-fitting briefs, not like compression garments. Order your regular size. The sculpting effect comes from the panel design, not from tight compression.

What to Do If You Are Between Sizes

If your measurements place you right on the border between two sizes, your decision depends on what you want from the product:

Want maximum sculpting for events? Go with the smaller size. The compression will be firm, but the boning prevents discomfort from rolling.

Want all-day comfort for regular wear? Go with the larger size. You still get smoothing and support, but breathing and movement are easier over extended periods.

Not sure? Order the larger size. Honeylove offers free exchanges, so if it feels too loose, swap for the smaller size at no cost.

Common Sizing Mistakes to Avoid

Mistake 1: Ordering based on your jeans size. Jean sizing varies wildly between brands. Use Honeylove's measurement chart, not your Levi's size tag.

Mistake 2: Sizing down for more compression. Going smaller than your measured size does not increase sculpting. It increases discomfort, restricts breathing, and can cause the garment to roll because the boning cannot sit properly.

Mistake 3: Not considering the product's support level. A Medium in the V-Neck Bra (Level 2) feels very different from a Medium in the SuperPower Short (Level 5). The sizing is the same, but the compression intensity varies by product.

Mistake 4: Measuring over clothing. Always measure against bare skin. A layer of fabric adds one to two inches and will push you into the wrong size.

Honeylove Fit Quiz: Worth Taking?

Honeylove offers an online fit quiz on their website that recommends products and sizes based on your measurements, body goals, and preferred compression level. I took it, and the recommendation matched what I would have chosen based on the size chart alone. It adds a product recommendation layer that might be helpful if you are new to the brand and unsure which piece to start with.

The quiz takes about two minutes. It is not required, but if you are buying your first Honeylove piece and want a guided recommendation, it is a useful starting point.

FAQ: Honeylove Sizing

Should I size up or down in Honeylove?

Size up if between sizes or if you prefer lighter compression for all-day wear. Size true for maximum sculpting. Never size down.

Does Honeylove shapewear stretch out over time?

Minimally. After four months of weekly wear and hand washing, my pieces show no significant stretching. The boning maintains its shape, and the compression panels hold firm.

Can I exchange my Honeylove order for a different size?

Yes. Honeylove offers free exchanges. If your order does not fit, swap for a different size at no cost.

What if my waist is one size and my hips are another?

Go with the larger size. The compression adjusts better when slightly loose than when too tight. The boning prevents any rolling issues that might come from a slightly roomier fit.

Does Honeylove use regular bra sizing?

No. Honeylove uses XS to 3X sizing for bras rather than traditional cup-and-band sizing. Use their measurement chart to find your equivalent.
